Writing Reflection
- When I look back on my narrative quick rights I realize how bad they are. I see over time how I grew in the understanding of showing the contents of a story rather than explaining every detail. I look through them, and I find myself editing. Adding certain details and taking others out. Rephrasing sentences now, that I thought were so perfect then. I look back on my work, and I realize that this paragraph would have made more sense here, rather than there. One of my worse quick writes is Science Project, it is the controversy quick write. I looked back on it recently, and changed grammar, set up, my choice on details. I didn't change it extravagantly, but I made it much easier to read.
- I have grown into the understanding of how to write an analysis. I can find signposts and break them down into an analytical paragraph, and in other formats. A signpost I wrote for The Scarlet Ibis is Changes & Surprises, 'Everybody said he would never walk or crawl.' This is not very explicit, but for a later signpost from the same story. It is another Changes & Surprises, 'Earlier they said that Doodle will never crawl, but he did. This is also and Again&Again because they keep saying that he won;t be able to do something yet he always ends up doing it. This is important to show that brother and Doodle keep overthrowing their beliefs of what he could do.' This shows how I have grown over the same story. I find two signposts in one moment, and can expand on that moment. Even if they are not as explicit as they would have been if I had had more practice.

Reading Reflection
- I grew in the understanding of how to get meaning from my understanding. I can look for the hidden meanings in my books. I have listened to the audio book of the series Codex Alexa by Jim Butcher twice, before and after this unit. The first time I listened to this story I loved it, but somethings didn't make sense, like why they would mention this detail. I am listening to it again, and I keep thinking of all the signposts they are using, and by thinking about that I understand the meaning of the book much better. I know understand the concept and the conflict so much better.
- I have grown in the understanding of how to better understand a writer's purpose . I used to have a little trouble differentiating the difference between informative writings and writings to help explain a topic. Now I can find the difference between on and the other. An informative writings help to show you what a topic is, it gives you information. A explanatory writing explains a certain topic, whether it is a word or a wedding.
